Greetings Massiv:
Ivy Lab has carved out a revolutionary chapter in electronic music legend. Since their formation in 2013, from the underground clubs of North London to packed stadiums Stateside and abroad, the collective—best known for their many fusions (and confusions) of D&B, halftime, dubstep, hip-hop, and experimental bass music--- have secured seats at the Round table of each subgenre's proverbial VIP Lounges.
5 years as a triple threat, then modified to a duo through the date of this writing, IVYLAB begat a generation of "LEFTFIELD" producers and enthusiasm for the same. Almost 13 years later, keeping their tradition of innovation steady and thriving, Ivy Lab has announced that 2026 will be their final year as a project. Endings can be hard to face, but what a fantastic run, though! Walt Disney's words ring true: "Don't cry because it's over; smile- because it happened."

Founders Sabre (Gove Kidao), Stray (Jonathan Fogel), and Halogenix (Laurence Reading)came out swinging in early releases like Oblique and Afterthought on Critical Music. These tunes garnered wide respect for their rhythmically fresh approach to bass music. Of course, their earlier sound was grounded in drum & bass, yet even such formative familiar ideas teased at future envelopes to be pushed. 2018 signalled divergence, for the trio became a duo, as Halogenix shifted his focus on solo works. This roster adjustment freed them from certain constraints for Ivy Lab’s sound. Sabre and Stray therefore leaned substantially further into the Halftime spectrum, bass textures, Hip Hop Grooves, and the works, then scaled well beyond conventional D&B guardrails.
Hey, all in all, these badboiz cultivated worldwide loyalist Labbers. It's like mi Abuelo always said: GOOD MEAT MAKES ITS OWN GRAVY!
Dive in and peep out their many works; Ivy Lab’s discography is a treatise on growth and audacity. FULL STUDIO RELEASES include 20/20 Volume One (2016) Death Doesn’t Always Taste Good (2018) Infinite Falling Ground (2022) followed by the last release Infinite Falling Ground Pt. 2 (2024). Don't forget the early stuff, like these throwback EPs: -Twenty Questions -Arkestra. With all the above and countless singles and other collabs, their output decidedly defies easy categorization.
Overall, Ivy Lab wasn’t just a producer duo; they were builders of a community. In 2015 they founded 20/20 LDN—a label and platform that championed emerging talent and provided a home for forward-thinking bass music. Over the years, 20/20 LDN became synonymous with quality and innovation, amplifying the voices of countless other artists and helping to expand the reach of underground electronic music. In heartfelt posts, Sabre and Stray shared that while Ivy Lab will wind down, both will continue pursuing solo music ventures, and 20/20 LDN will remain active. They promised final releases and a series of farewell performances in pivotal cities that shaped their journey, insisting they “don’t intend on leaving quietly.”
This announcement resonates not just as an ending but as a celebration of impact. Ivy Lab helped redefine what electronic music could be: rhythmically adventurous, emotionally profound, and unafraid to blur boundaries. Their work influenced producers across the globe, inspired whole sub-scenes within bass culture, and gave fans soundtracks for both introspection and ecstatic release. Their contribution to electronic music is “all of us,” as they put it—a collective story of creativity, connection, and evolution.
As 2026 unfolds, fans can look forward to one last chapter of Ivy Lab’s communal odyssey—final shows, fresh tracks, and perhaps the most fitting tribute of all: gratitude for a body of work that reshaped the landscape of modern beat music. In celebrating Ivy Lab, we honor not just a duo but a decade-plus of fearless exploration that forever changed the way we hear bass. For fun, check out my list below of rabbit holes.
I love u all!
