Here in the states, there are quite a few names that hold weight as key players in pushing Drum & Bass to its limits, Patrol The Skies Music is always one of the first names that comes to my mind. This week was huge for PTSM, as they’re celebrating their 100th release and a massive 14 years of service to to the genre and culture with a whopping 32 track compilation LP featuring some of our countries topper top talent. Listening through, each and every tune on this release is a heavy hitter, doing not only the label but also USDNB the proper justice it deserves. This is Patrol The Skies 100, Let’s dig in.
So, there’s a lot of familiar faces on this LP. A lot of favorites, household names who have dedicated their lives to this thing. These are hardworking folks who have been putting in the work for decades and stop at nothing to continue pushing the sound to its limits and beyond. To name this stacked line up in its entirety, we’ve got The Burner Brothers, Bad Syntax, Dave Shicman, Electron-C, Josiah Scribes (with his debut production release by the way!), Subconscious BSC, Souljunk, Serjah9, Noya, Krispe, Tribe Steppaz, SODL, Pish Posh, Mizeyesis, ASHFLO, Joe Phillips, Noisefloor, Diode, ESKR, Liminal, Wilsun, Consouls, Will Miles, IsoCon, DJ Passive, Rends, and Until Dawn all contributing and representing to the fullest. Each tune is of the highest quality, and after listening to this, it’s undeniable that stateside is working incredibly hard at keeping this thing alive, healthy, and thriving. It’s remarkable.
Since 2012, Patrol The Skies has been doing their due diligence in pushing Drum & Bass in the United States. PTS100 is not only a huge milestone, but a foreshadowing of what is to come from the label and the states as a whole. Buckle up ladies and gents, because I fully believe we’re only going to keep growing as a culture and community more and more as the time passes.
