Gun Fingers: a brief history and commentary.

Gun fingers, where did they come from?

First in the UK and now stateside, "gun fingers" are everywhere. Just like middle fingers, metal horns, and fist pumps, gun fingers provide a way to communicate enjoyment and excitement with the music. The symbol has its roots, like a lot of Drum and Bass culture in the soundclash and Reggae scenes of Jamaica. To show support for the winners, audience members would make noise, including shooting actual firearms. Through time and distance, the idea made its way to the UK in Grime and Hip hop.

With the diversity of music in the UK and the global following, gun fingers have made their way to North America.

Remember, the only thing better than one gun finger are two gun fingers in the air.
