Review: SODL - Straight Out Da Lab LP

The group "SODL" is born from Mr. Fluid & 360 Degrees as a dj and mc duo, dedicated to showcasing Hip Hop and DnB in their live performances in Mississippi and around the Southeastern United States of America. In an area where DnB and rave music was looked down upon during the early 2000's, 360 Degrees and several friends formed a production company showcasing some of the elements of Hip Hop & DnB in the dance including Dj's, MC's, Bboy's, and BGirl's where they often held cyphers and dance battles. Mr Fluid was one of the MC's that showed up on a regular basis to test his skills on the mic. 360 was one of the main acts just about every session. This was where the idea of fusing their productions of Hip Hop & DnB together were formed. Decades later, this self-titled full length was born. The "Straight Out Da Lab LP" is a collaborative effort from Mr Fluid & 360 Degrees(SODL) featuring artists such as MC Jamalski, MC Woes, MC Astro, J Fab, Roxiie Reese, SPY MC, & Pish Posh.

The duo offers a wide array of vibes, starting with the old school drum and bass in "The Vibe," a track heavily influenced by MCs that kicks off the LP. It transitions into more Jazz and Liquid sounds while maintaining a Hip Hop influence. Tracks like "Losing My Mind," "Love and the Weekend," and "Good Karma" feature sultry vocals added to the mix. The music exudes mature vibes with amens and bass seamlessly intertwined. "Advance the Groove," "Warning," and "Timewarp" bring back pure Drum and Bass vibes with a Hip Hop influence and a harder edge. "Dirty South 2 London Ft. Jamalski" completes the journey, leading to "Pressure" and "Never Slow Down." This LP offers a solid

blend of musical elements that resonate with our culture. I'm eager to hear what they come up with next and beyond.
