In the Drum & Bass scene, there are many ways to contribute and give back. I love to see a brand tackle multiple facets within the industry, but it’s always especially impressive when it’s executed well with proper intention and dedicated commitment. I’d like to talk about one of those brands in particular, a recent venture from Matt with his recent launch of shindigsDNB based out of the UK with a global mission. When I say this brand is impressive I mean it, it covers many bases from music distribution to clothing and apparel collaborations to hosting mixes, all under one roof and for the love of the music and culture.
The Man Behind shindigsDNB
Meet Matt, a proper gentleman with an extensive vision and intense passion for everything this scene has to offer. Matt was first introduced rave music when he was in his early teens in the beginning of the 90’s thanks to his brother and was hooked. As genres split off, formed, and evolved during the decade, Matt found himself gravitating towards Jungle and later Drum & Bass. Having fallen in love with the sound and culture, naturally Matt wanted to find ways to get involved himself. By the late 90’s Matt was promoting events with BPD (By Popular Demand), and by the early 2000’s he and some childhood friends began hosting their own nights called Nocturnal Combustion at Crazy Daisies in Coventry, over time booking quite a few household names such as Andy C, Ed Rush, Bryan Gee, Bad Company, MC GQ, Flux, Ratty and Red One. As time passed, Matt found more ways to dedicate his time and passion to Drum & Bass, such as becoming A&R for Renegade Hardware and forming his own label BrainRave Music, which in turn gave him a more solidified understanding of the industry and everything that goes on behind the scenes. Needless to say, Matt is no stranger to what goes on here and has gotten himself involved with many different pockets of the Drum & Bass scene over the decades.
Getting Started
Fast forward to March of 2026, not even quite a year ago at this point, Matt launched shindigsDNB, a very much so multi-faceted brand dedicated to pushing Drum & Bass and its culture around the world. The vision for shindigsDNB is to incorporate different elements of this industry such as music, clothing, collaborations with artists, labels, all under one umbrella.
Clothing & Collaborations
shindigDNB works directly with artists, designers, and established names within the community to collaborate on clothing with names such as such as Zombie Cats, Screamarts, Dunk, Trinyóart, OMNEUM, and Drum And Bass Proper (YES!). The goal is to produce quality apparel with authentic designs, giving us something that genuinely represents Drum & Bass and the culture we’re a part of.
shindigsDNB Digital
As well as clothing, shindigsDNB also handles distribution of digitally formatted music, all Drum & Bass of course. The shindigsDNB Digital mission is to work with independent artists and labels, giving fans access to exclusive releases that they won’t be able to find anywhere else!
shindigsDNB Sessions
shindigsDNB Sessions is a regular DJ mix series committed to showcasing fresh and forthcoming Drum & Bass with Ari-On as the resident DJ, while also featuring guest mixes from both established and up and coming artists.
The Vision
The mission for shindigsDNB is to stay independent and underground while keeping the connections with the music and culture genuine. While shindigsDNB is still fairly new, the long-term vision is to establish the brand as a home for Drum & Bass music and culture.
Drum And Bass Proper Collab
Some shameless self promo here, but Drum And Bass Proper has recently teamed up with shindigsDNB on some clothing drops and we are all incredibly excited about the collaboration. Check out the shindigsDNB site for our new line of merch!
Big up to Matt and the shindigsDNB family for their efforts and contributions to the scene, I truly cannot wait to see what they have in store for us.
