30 Years of 360 Degrees: Building Mississippi Drum & Bass Through Community and Culture

This summer marks 30 years of 360 Degrees, a Mississippi based DJ, producer, promoter, and community builder who has spent three decades pushing Jungle and Drum & Bass throughout North America. Through his work with Mississippi Drum and Bass (MSDNB), Patrol The Skies Music, SODL, and countless events across the region, he has helped establish Mississippi as a respected name within the larger Drum & Bass community while building connections that extend far beyond the Gulf Coast.

Known for blending Jungle, Drum & Bass, turntablism, and Southern Hip Hop influences, 360 Degrees has built a career defined by both technical skill and long term community building. Throughout his journey, he has shared stages with pioneers such as LTJ Bukem, DJ SS, and Roni Size, as well as turntablism legends including DJ Swamp and Vekked.

Yet despite the accolades, his story begins simply, rooted in skate culture, hip hop, and local parties.

“I was just a skater kid that was into hip hop and going to parties with my friends,” he recalls. “I fell in love with the music, the culture and the lifestyle… I was hooked on the dancefloor from day one.”

That foundation would later lead him into Jungle and Drum & Bass, a sound that was still widely misunderstood in his region at the time. “I had heard about Jungle but often heard negative things about it like the beat being too fast to dance to,” he says.

His perspective shifted after connecting with local Junglists playing in side rooms at Mississippi events. From there, he began traveling to cities including New Orleans, Memphis, Mobile, and Birmingham, where he encountered a wider network of DJs and ravers building the same culture across the South.

“The vibe was just different in the Jungle room,” he says. “There was a camaraderie. I think everyone knew we were the underdogs.”

That underdog energy became the foundation for what would eventually become MSDNB. In 1999, 360 Degrees and fellow DJs launched a dedicated Drum & Bass night at Club Ecstatic in Jackson, Mississippi. What began as a grassroots effort to give Jungle a consistent platform evolved into Mississippi Drum and Bass (MSDNB), a long-standing movement focused on community building, artist support, and cultural development across the region.

Today, Mississippi Drum and Bass (MSDNB) operates as both a platform and a network, collaborating across the United States while maintaining deep ties throughout the Gulf Coast.

“There is unity through collaboration,” says 360 Degrees.

That ethos has helped build lasting relationships between MSDNB, NOLADNB, MIADNB, Respect Drum & Bass, Upgrade DnB, Driven AM, and other collectives contributing to the wider North American Drum & Bass ecosystem.

“We want artists to know that hospitality is at the forefront of everything we do down here.”

For 360 Degrees, the work has always extended beyond personal advancement, remaining focused on strengthening the culture that shaped him.

“I genuinely love Jungle and Drum & Bass music and its culture,” he says. “Helping others succeed at things is a big motivating factor for me.”

That commitment extends beyond performance and promotion. Alongside his wife Melissa, who assists with management, communications, and organizational operations, he has helped grow MSDNB into a respected regional force.

Recognition from artists such as DJ SS and collaborations with World of Drum & Bass highlight the movement’s steady growth and increasing reach.

As MSDNB continues to expand, so does 360 Degrees’ involvement in the wider scene. He has recently joined Patrol The Skies Music, helping support the independent label as it approaches its milestone 100th release.

“Patrol The Skies is dedicated to elevating artists across the full spectrum of DnB and Jungle,” he explains. “I am very happy to be aboard and of service to the label and the stateside DnB community.”

The label’s upcoming 100th release will spotlight both established and emerging artists, reflecting the same ethos of collaboration that has defined his career.

This summer also brings a new run of dates on the West Coast, continuing his long standing presence in the North American Drum & Bass circuit.

On July 18, he returns to Los Angeles to headline MIADNB’s Deep In The Jungle XX alongside Delamota, APX1, Tankdubs, Serjah9, Mixphix, Exhume, and more. On July 19, he joins Joey Mojo and Krystalize for a guest set on Full Spec DnB via Twitch. The weekend concludes on July 20 with his debut performance at SanDnB.

“It’s a great feeling to be able to come out and represent Mississippi in places with such strong scenes,” he says.

Back in Jackson, the celebration continues through Electronically Speaking, his long running residency that brings together decades of community, mentorship, and shared history.

“It is amazing to be in this place with so many familiar and new faces.”

30 years into his journey as 360 Degrees, he remains committed to the same mission that shaped his early path: growing the culture, supporting artists, and building lasting connections through music.

“I hope to do this for another 30 years,” he says. “In the end I just hope to build a community that is respected and loved by everyone.”
