With the recent passing of the beloved, late legend Lenzman, I want to highlight one of my favorite, more recent tunes that he worked on. This is “Out The Dance”, a beautiful collaboration between Lenzman, Redeyes, and Danny Sanchez with a message no true raver can deny. This one is an anthem.
Rolling amens, lovely piano, and a roaring bassline, “Out The Dance” is truly a vibey tune that is probably already in your collection. Danny Sanchez leads this tune with his very candid but powerful vocals, highlighting the lifestyle of the raver and how we cope with the daily struggles in our lives. Danny’s lyrics suggest never faltering from the roots and culture, not because we have to, but because we don’t want to.
Lenzman was an absolute powerhouse who left a legacy that will undeniably live on through his music, The North Quarter imprint, and the lives he’s touched during his journey here. There aren’t enough words to explain how significant his impact was not only on Drum & Bass music and culture, but also the hearts he reached with his work and by simply being who he was. I just want to take this moment to remember and pay respects to the legend. All good things come to an end, but that’s ok because we can carry on Lenzman’s legacy again and again through his music.
Our hearts are out to his friends and family during this time. I highly suggest running up both Lenzman’s & TNQ’s catalogues. There’s loads of music, tons of studio mixes, and many, many ways ways to support the family during their monumental loss. Take a moment to sift through all the great work this man has done in his 20+ year career, and remember to cherish life without any hesitation.
