On Friday, October 23rd, The Black Box brings another stacked night of drum & bass to Denver, with UK producer Villem taking over the main room alongside Alpha Rhythm and Field Notes. Meanwhile, the venue’s Lounge will host its own lineup featuring Abe Froman, Ghost B2B Sinistarr, Solid B2B John Glist, and Metronohm, presented by Recon DNB and Ghost.
With programming across both spaces, the night brings together international sounds and artists deeply connected to the American underground, giving Denver’s drum & bass community plenty of reasons to spend Friday night at The Black Box.
Villem Takes the Main Room
At the center of the evening is Villem, a respected UK drum & bass producer whose sound moves between deep rollers, soulful melodies, intricate percussion, and atmospheric textures. His productions balance technical precision with musical depth, making him a standout for listeners drawn to the more nuanced side of drum & bass.
Over the years, Villem has developed a distinctive place in the genre through his solo work and collaborations, consistently exploring the relationship between rhythm, melody, and bass. His sound offers an experience that rewards close listening while still delivering the momentum of a dancefloor-focused set.
Joining him in the main room are Alpha Rhythm and Field Notes, rounding out a lineup focused on immersive sounds and carefully crafted selections. Together, the artists set the stage for a night that celebrates the depth and diversity of drum & bass.
The Lounge Brings More Drum & Bass to the Night
Beyond the main room, The Black Box Lounge will feature its own lineup of established names and underground talent.
Abe Froman brings years of experience in American drum & bass, having gotten his start at legendary events including Rise and Fever in Baltimore and Buzz in Washington, D.C. A winner of the 2003 To Shape the Future DJ Battle, Froman has shared lineups with influential artists including Goldie, Ed Rush & Optical, DJ Storm, and Dillinja. He also hosts the weekly American Junglist show on the UK’s Envy FM.
The Lounge lineup continues with Ghost B2B Sinistarr, Solid B2B John Glist, and Metronohm, creating another space for deep selections and dancefloor-driven sounds throughout the evening. Presented by Recon DNB and Ghost, the Lounge programming adds another dimension to the event while keeping the main room’s headlining showcase at the center of the night.
A Night at The Black Box
Since opening in 2016, The Black Box has become a cornerstone of Denver’s underground electronic music community. Founded by Nicole Cacciavillano with the help of business partner Corey Pfaff, the venue was built with a genuine love for underground music and sound system culture.
With Villem headlining the main room and a separate Lounge lineup running alongside it, October 23rd offers a snapshot of what makes The Black Box such an important space for the scene: a commitment to the music, a platform for artists at different stages of their careers, and room for the community to come together.
